The Big Reveal!

Hey everyone, come celebrate the release of my photos on Saturday at the maurices in Oshkosh! The photos will be in maurices stores nationwide but there is going to be an exclusive open house on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the maurices at The Outlet Shoppes in Oshkosh. Everyone is invited, so come see the photos, enjoy refreshments and mingle with me! Hope to see everyone there!

Fun to shoot maurices Style Minutes!

Friday was the final day of our photo shoot, and despite how much my feet were screaming at me to take off those heels, I had the time of my life. In the morning we shot inside the public library, in both the children’s section and an elegant and historic staircase. The themes for these outfits meshed well with the librarian look as part of the Wear @ Work collection.

In the afternoon, however, we transitioned into video work, as Christopher Straub and I filmed a series of maurices Style Minutes. These are short instructional videos offering tips on how to pull off certain styles. It was super fun to model in these video clips, but I didn’t realize how many takes were involved with just getting a few seconds worth of footage. It was really tiring, but such a blast to watch a video being set in motion.

Another great thing about filming the Style Minutes was that I learned a lot. One of our videos centered on how to wear a blazer three different ways. I own a few blazers and have never worn them before because I don’t want to look too stiff. Being styled for three options using the same blazer showed me a number of ways to make a blazer work for any occasion. You’ll have to wait and see what else you can learn when the maurices Style Minutes go live on maurices.com!

Bio: Kimberly Spaulding attends the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

An English major, she tutors low-income adults in reading and writing, and she also volunteers in a writing studio for recent immigrants. She says these experiences have changed her for the better, making her much more open to different types of people.

While she has never been trained in modeling, she loves fashion and is confident in her ability to ‘work it,’ no matter what she is wearing. She believes maurices represents women in their natural element and views her participation in the maurices Main Street Model Search as an opportunity to be not only a fashion model, but also a role model.
