In all honesty, becoming a model has not been my life-long dream. During my life, many people have told me I should model, but mostly I have shrugged it off. I have always related modeling to what people see on the outside. I believe that girls grow up with so many pressures. I think that these pressures influence how they perceive themselves and sadly, a lot of that is wrapped up in how they should look. That is not to say that I don’t want to look good, because I do. I like to take care of myself but more so out of self confidence rather than because that is how I am supposed to be in order to fit in. So in being completely honest, the thought of modeling was never overly appealing -- I believe that there is much more to me than what you see. In this case, however, I think Maurice’s presents a very unique opportunity. I view this campaign as a chance to create a whole new image for models – an image that can create a huge domino effect for teens and women of all ages who identify with them. This obviously carries over into how they view themselves. Maurice’s is allowing women to say it’s ok if I have a few extra pounds, I’m healthy! It’s ok if I’m not the prettiest girl on the block, I’m still beautiful! It’s ok to be REAL! It’s ok to be me! I think that being a part of that message is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would feel proud and honored to share in that experience!
